No 911? Hyundai Responds to Mini's Race Challenge with 2010 Genesis Coupe

Porsche may not be willing to take Mini up on its race challenge, but it seems the new 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe is ready to play at Road Atlanta.

A new video, released by the company earlier this afternoon, responds to Mini’s persistent challenge with a salvo of its own. Should Mini approve, Hyundai may want to pitch its new 2010 Genesis Coupe against the little hot hatch. Road Atlanta may well be the perfect venue for such a face-off. Heck, the track served as the primary set for the company’s “Epic Lap” commercial.

The problem? As the video notes, Hyundai’s semi-resident hot shoe -- the legendary Rhys Millen -- is off readying himself for a record-setting blast up Pikes Peak. Perhaps, then, we need to reschedule the showdown. As Hyundai suggests, how does July sound?

We’re eager to hear Mini’s response. If it’s a yes, expect a battle of the budget performance machines to break out in the weeks to come. We’d expect a GenCoupe equipped with the Track Pack -- perhaps even one with the company’s 3.8-liter V-6 -- to be Hyundai’s weapon of choice.
